Preserving the Unique Culture of Print

Founded in 1996 NYC-Based Rare Global Publications Exclusive Finds ONLY at Iconic

Iconic Magazines traces its roots back to 1993, when founder Hemal Sheth opened a neighborhood convenience store in New York City. Over time, Hemal developed a passion for magazines and gradually expanded the store’s selection, building on its bodega roots while turning it into a destination for readers seeking unique, independent, and international publications.

In 2012, Hemal opened the first store to carry the Iconic Magazines name in Bouwerie, marking a new chapter with a much bigger focus on print culture. As demand grew, two more locations on Mulberry Street and Lafayette Street opened in 2014, bringing an unmatched selection of publications to more readers, collectors, students, and creatives.

We’ve never thought of Iconic as just a place to buy magazines. It’s for anyone chasing more of something very specific. We live in a digital age, but print is not dead. The novelty, the experience of holding it, and knowing you own a small part of culture when you do, is what keeps it alive.”

Hemal Sheth, Owner of Iconic Magazines

Today, Iconic carries more than 1,000 titles spanning fashion, art, design, photography, sports, culture, and countless other interests.

What started as one Lower Manhattan shop is now five NYC locations, including the new Iconic Newsstand at Hudson Yards, with Iconic Market on Broome Street opening in 2026.

Wherever we go, the mission is always to celebrate and preserve the beautiful experience of print.
