Mikey Madison on The Social Reckoning, Staying Offline, and Being a Horse Girl
Mikey Madison has made a meal of screamers, fighters, girls with a lot of attitude and even a taste for violence. Consider Max, the wild-child eldest daughter in Pamela Adlon’s “Better Things”; Sadie, a strung-out Manson girl in “Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood”; and the badnik-busting stripper in Sean Baker’s “Anora,” a part that won her the Oscar for best actress in 2025.
In a variation on that theme, “The Social Reckoning,” Aaron Sorkin’s follow-up to “The Social Network,” sees Madison play a rebel with a cause: Facebook whistleblower Frances Haugen, who in 2021 set out to expose what the company may have known, and did or did not do, about things like the presence of extremist groups and the spread of misinformation across its platforms. “You read a script like that and you’re like, I have to do this,” says the actor. “It’s also a really interesting story to me, about this woman—this massive hero—that no one really knows about.”
For Vogue’s October 2026 issue—and ahead of Vogue World: Milan, which she will attend—Mikey Madison meets Marley Marius on horseback in Los Angeles to discuss her next projects, staying offline, and forever being a horse girl.
