Kaia and Homer Gere could not have come to “The Shards,” Ryan Murphy’s alluring new adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis’s 2023 novel, with more different CVs. Gerber, the daughter of Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, has modeled since she was 10 and performed in two previous Murphy productions, among other television and film work. Gere, the son of Richard Gere and actress Carey Lowell, meanwhile, was raised in quiet Pound Ridge, New York, and had never been on a professional set until last summer. Gerber’s advice? “I said to him, ‘Homer, unfortunately with this show, it’s not like you’re just any unknown actor and people will judge you as an unknown actor. But what that’s done for me is make me want to work harder.’ ”
