Inside New York Magazine’s First Standalone Men’s Style Issue

The 89-page print magazine skips the typical tropes of men’s fashion titles to offer the kind of narrative journalism New York has published for decades. Editor-in-chief David Haskell is confident it will be a success.

Welcome to our first men’s style issue, starring Elliot Page.

We’ve often covered men’s style over the years: There was a 1971 cover story wondering if men would wear high heels for fall and a 1996 profile of male supermodels. But we’ve never done a special issue on the subject, and 2026 — when even 15-year-olds are “hype” about Ralph and worn Chrome Hearts jeans can go for $100,000 — feels like the right time.

To celebrate, we asked the photographer Ryan McGinley to join us at the Russian and Turkish Baths for a shoot with Baths regulars and a few first-timers — including Elliot Page — wearing some fashion, but hardly any.
